RV industry leaders were busy last week meeting with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., to promote the industry.

During the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s annual Capitol Hill Advocacy Day on June 3, 49 RVIA members met with the offices of 55 senators and 45 representatives, according to a news release from the association.

In these meetings, they discussed the state of the RV market, upcoming legislation involving the distinction between RVs and manufactured housing, and the required ways for RV transport drivers to report their hours on the road, among other topics.

A Nappanee-built Newmar Canyon Star motorhome was on display on the Senate side of Capitol Hill during the day for members of Congress and their staffs to tour.

“Advocacy Day keeps growing in popularity and effectiveness each year,” Jay Landers, RVIA’s senior director of government affairs, stated in the news release. “Our members really enjoy advocating for the industry, and the relationships that are formed are critically important to RVIA’s legislative efforts.”
